A historical attraction in Pondicherry, the French War Memorial is located at Goubert Avenue. The memorial was built to honor the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I. It was erected in 1937 and inaugurated by Governor Crocicchia in 1938. You can visit the memorial between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on all days of the week.

It is illuminated every year on 14th July, which is Bastille Day (French National Day). The memorial is flooded with people who pay their homage to the brave soldiers who fought for them. Beyond the architectural beauty of the monument, every brick tells a tale of the bravery of the unsung heroes of the war.
